Neighbourhood Watch
Although Moor Park is one of the safest places to live,
there are obviously incidents of crime from time to time. There has been
a recent attempted burglary and thieves are still targeting alloy wheels
from BMWs on the Estate. The Police apprehended a resident who was driving
over the drink drive limit. As always, please be vigilant and if you see
anything suspicious
IN AN EMERGENCY DIAL 999
IF YOU NEED POLICE TO ATTEND DIAL 01923 828212 (not an emergency)

Lynda Jackson Run 26th September 2010
Thank you to everyone who came to support, help and cheer
the runners which was especially appreciated in the miserable weather.
At the time of writing, over £40,000 has been raised. There were
runners from far and wide, many who commented on what a lovely setting
it was for the event. Thank you too to residents and visitors who patiently
waited while the runners went through.
Noise
As many residents will have been aware, at the end of June, on a weekday
there was a major noise problem from a party on the Estate. If you are
having a party please avoid a weekday if you want to celebrate beyond
11 pm and if it is at a weekend then past 11 pm please keep noise to a
minimum.
Although we are lucky to live in larger than average
houses with generous gardens but because Moor Park is on a hill noise
travels considerable distance. We thought that the following notes would
be helpful.
Night Time Noise
The Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 amended the Noise Act 1996 and enables
local authorities in England and Wales to tackle night time noise emitted
from dwellings and gardens between the hours of 11.00 pm and 7.00 am.
To enforce these powers local authorities must ensure that an environmental
health officer takes reasonable steps to investigate complaints about
noise emitted from dwellings. If the officer is satisfied that noise exceeds
the permitted level, a warning notice may be served on the person responsible.
If the warning is ignored, the officer may issue a fixed penalty notice
of £100, enter the dwelling and confiscate the noise making equipment
(obstructing confiscation carries a fine of up to £1000), or prosecute
(fine up to £1000). An extension of the Noise Act came into force
in February 2008, enabling local authorities in England and Wales to tackle
night time noise from licensed premises.
Fireworks
Recently fireworks have become an increasing noise problem for people
and pets. They are let off not only for traditional celebrations such
as Bonfire Night, New Year and Diwali, but year round to mark public and
private celebrations. The Fireworks Regulations 2004 prohibit the use
of fireworks between 11.00 pm and 7.00 am except for Chinese New Year,
Diwali, New Year's Eve and Bonfire Night. If they are a nuisance, please
call the Police on 0845 330022.
We also remind all residents that there are restrictions on building works.
These hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. on Saturdays.
If you do have a problem Three Rivers have a 24 hour
help line 01923 776611.
Litter
We are very fortunate to live in a very tidy Estate but
we are aware that there are several community minded residents who regularly
pick up and dispose of litter around the Estate. We would like to thank
them for all their hard work.
Misdirected Mail
We are sure that many of you receive mail that needs
to be redirected. We would ask you to redirect rather than dispose of
the correspondence.
Carol Singing
We have arranged the traditional carol singing by courtesy
of the Herga Band for Saturday 18th December 2009 at 11 a.m. We do hope
as many residents as possible can come along and sing your hearts out!
Donations will be sent to Macmillan Nurses. Please give generously.
The Committee Members would like
to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
